In the scope of project EPURO several laboratory exercises for bachelor students at the Biotechnical faculty have been redesigned and updated. One of the experiments required a closed system with integrated mixing and reagent addition systems which proved to be a difficult task due to being limited only to cheap equipment in order to avoid unnecessary costs to the faculty.
After several problematic prototypes an elegant solution was found making use of cheap accessible equipment ubiquitous to any academic laboratory as well as powerful magnets recycled and donated by Duh časa.
With the use of a magnet it was made possible to influence parts inside the closed apparatus triggering release of reagents. The apparatus can also be disassembled in its entirety with no permanent damage to the laboratory equipment used. The data acquired will be analyzed by the students on newly installed computers that were also donated by Duh časa.
